Purpose

The Blue Flag Committee (CEBFBC) is a volunteer Committee. The Blue Flag program is an international eco-label awarded to beaches and marinas. The program began in Europe in 1985 and is administered by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in Denmark. The Canada Blue Flag is operated by Swim Drink Fish. Swim Drink Fish is a nonprofit organization working to connect people with water since 2001.

Purpose

The Central Elgin Community Policing Committee (CECPC) is a volunteer committee. The purpose of the CECPC is to work together with stakeholders in identifying, prioritizing, and problem-solving of local community policing issues on a proactive basis through the sharing of ideas, addressing issues of common concerns and the delivery of programs, in order to preserve and enhance the quality of life and safety in the community.

Purpose

The Elgin County Land Division Committee receives a variety of consent (severance) applications, which can include the creation of a new lot, additions to a lot, surplus farm dwelling severances and the creation of easements. The Elgin County Land Division Committee has local representatives from each municipality under Elgin County and vote on the decisions of severance applications as well as impose conditions, which must be fulfilled by the applicants. Conditions are recommended by Elgin County staff, conservation authorities, municipal staff and councils.

Purpose

The Heritage Committee is a volunteer committee. Its purpose of the Committee is to:

• Establish criteria for the evaluation of properties of architectural and/or historical value or interest, and co-ordinate the submission of all information, recommendations, and advice to Council with regard to the conservation of the Municipality of Central Elgin's heritage;
• Recommend to Council buildings, lands, or areas worthy of conservation;
• Initiate, consider, and develop proposals for the preservation, the maintenance, and the restoration of properties designated for preservation;
• Advise Council, when Council in accordance with the provisions of the Ontario Heritage Act, consults with the Committee about its intention to:
  • designate a property within the municipality to be of historic or architectural value or interest;
  • repeal a by-law or part thereof designating property;
  • consider a property owner's application to alter the property where the alteration is likely to affect the reason for the designation;
  • consider a property owner's application to demolish or remove any building or structure on such property or to permit such demolition or removal
  • pass a by-law to define the municipality or one or more areas thereof as an area to be examined for future designation as a heritage conservation district and to prepare an official plan amendment with respect to such designation.
• To implement programs and activities to increase public awareness and knowledge of heritage conservation issues;
• To advise and assist Council on all matters relating to Parts IV and V of the Ontario Heritage Act 1990;
• To advise and assist Council on any other matters relating to buildings and areas of architectural and/or historical significance

Purpose

The purpose and goals of the Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee are to:

• advising Council on the requirements and implementation of accessibility standards and the preparation of accessibility reports
• reviewing site plans and drawings for buildings and facilities
• providing advice on the preparation of accessibility reports, including the annual accessibility plan, as required under the AODA
• promoting public awareness and sensitivity
• educating businesses about providing accessible customer service and meeting the requirements of the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation.

• OR 3 residents with disabilities, plus a member of the community who is a person interested in issues relating to persons with disabilities (through work, school or caregiver role), or a parent/guardian representing children with disabilities

Purpose

The BIA board of Management and the General Membership strive to improve, beautify and maintain municipally owned lands, buildings and structures while promoting the Business Improvement Area as a business and Retail Trade district.

Purpose

The Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Fundraising Committee is a sub committee of the Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Project Steering Committee. Working in collaboration the Steering Committee, the purpose of this Committee is to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate fund development activities in support of the operational and "value added" revenue generation in support of Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Project. The Fundraising Committee shall not support the capital costs associated with the Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Project.
